The Signs Project Trip had to be postponed from March due to rain on the CSR but it was completed successfully at the end of April. Signs erected were; Well 2 – Yiwarra Kuju (One track many stories),

Windich Springs – 3 huge panels in the Information Shelter which were like Indigenous Dot Paintings, and also some smaller information signs about the early years, Well 5 – Welcome to Wiluna Martu and Birriliburu Country, Well 6 – Information signs about the early years there, and Well 9 – same as Windich Springs Information Shelter.

There are also some more signs to go at Wells 11 and 15, and these will be installed at a later date. Many thanks to Eric Loughton and Brian Roberts for their work on this Project.

We enjoyedthe assistance of 4 Birriliburu Rangers who were great at digging holes for the footings, and drilling holes in the steel for the signs. Interestingly, I saw the most animal life of any previous trip.

The Well 12 Project Trip is about ready to depart. Unfortunately, there has been a lot of rain in the Little Sandy Desert in the last few days and some of the roads are closed again.
Interestingly, the Shire web site says most roads are still open and when I rang they said the rain had not affected most of their roads very much.

Des Bunter will keep in touch with the Stations up there and that will give us the best indication.

Hopefully, the worst case may be to postpone the departure date by a day or two as the roads dry out fast when they have a couple of warm days. Keep fingers crossed.

What was originally just a trip to Well 12 to refurbish the ground level platform, has extended to; replacing the sleepers down the well, replacing the well covers, strengthen the rails on the Information Shelter at Weld Springs and also at Windich Springs, and replacing two of the rails on the pine log fence around Well 6. In addition, we have been given permission to return through the Carnarvon Ranges and will service the Campsites there as well as construct a small water bar across a new section of track near Good Camp.

The Mungkulu Project is still on schedule to depart August 15. More info will be sent out in the next weeks. I have contacted the Steel fabricators who will keep capacity in July for us, and I will start sourcing other materials in the coming weeks.

Planning for future years is being commenced and any suggestions will be considered.

Ben advised that he had received another donation from Libby Sakker. Libby gives talks about her travelling experiences to women’s groups and is then kind enough to pass on donations to the CSR team. Thanks heaps Libby

Lake Nabberu- John spoke about the request to the CDNT for a letter of support to go to the Minister for Lands (see April-8.2) and provided an update on the progress of this Public Access Route proposal.
