Many thanks to Joy for putting this one up on the events calendar and Tony for sharing his extensive knowledge of the Park with Track Care members, his enthusiasm and passion for the park was certainly catching.

Sofia and I thoroughly enjoyed what was almost perfect weather, at least no rain.

Thanks Joy for giving me the opportunity to lead the convoy on this event, hope it all went as well as you anticipated.

The Wandoo Woodlands Wildflower Wander will be held on Sunday 30th August.

Geoff Couper and Tony Rouphael (an Environmental Scientist) have very kindly agreed to help me organise the day.

Geoff and Tony will be leading the trip through the Wandoo Woodlands.

Tony will provide some context to the Aboriginal & European history of the area, and some information on the vegetation (focusing on the many species of Eucalyptus out there).

Tony will also explain how TrackCare is getting involved to help protect the areas from irresponsible 4x4 driving.

The plan is to meet at the Lakes Roadhouse at 0900hrs (for those of you who don’t already know, the Lakes Roadhouse is where the Great Southern Highway branches off towards York from the Great Eastern Highway).

From here we will explore the area, with a stop for a picnic lunch somewhere in the woodlands, before making our way back out to the bitumen by about 1500hrs.

So fingers crossed, we’ll have a beautiful sunny day to enjoy the wildflowers in this great area of bushland so close to home!
